What’s so good about death?

God faced death. Moving into the depth of human struggle, the darkest corners of the human experience, God died. Isn’t that about the sweetest expression of love? To go to your darkest places with you. A place where good is no more. There God is. Even there, even in death, God is. Death to things that have been. From there comes new creation. And humans saw that it was good.

Lullaby for the Relapsed

Verse 1

Hum a melody that rises from
Your shoes- a hundred stories written on your soles
Come, I’ll sing with you my harmony
It’s true, I’m so excited that you’re coming home

Refrain
Even step ninety-nine is hard when you’re covered in scars

Verse 2
Rest, you’ve journeyed long- it’s time to sleep
Please let me bind your wounds and wash your feet
You are in hands that have been hurt before
I know, I recognize your shoes- I have some too

Refrain
Even step ninety-nine is hard when you’re covered in scars

Verse 3
They say before you make yourself at home
You’ll want to leave and never want to stay again
My friend, when you feel this way, don’t forget
To hum the song of strength that brought you here today

Refrain
Even step ninety-nine is hard when you’re covered in scars
Even step ninety-nine is hard when you’re covered in scars

For now, just sleep
You’re in good hands
For now, just sleep
You’re in good hands…
